Janet's Story
School
I hated school and never felt like I fit in with anyone. I refused to dress and "look like a girl". Aside from music, I had no real interest in any school activity. I made the honor role all the way through without ever opening a textbook. I felt like I was never liked or trusted by anyone because my father was the Superentendent of Schools. I purposely maintained friendships (with adults) outside of school. Having had no siblings, I never understood the behavior of "kids".
College
I attended Macomb Community College for 2 years and got an Associate of General Studies, Magna Cum Laude. I didn't qualify for an Ass. of Arts or Science because all I took was science. For an AGS, all you had to do was...Expand for more
take 64 hours of anything. I was NOT well rounded. I went to Wayne State Univ and did 1 year toward a BS in General Science, but then found out that I had to take a language. I was almost flunking French, so I switched my degree to Pharmacy and went to Pharm. School for 1 year, before transferring to Medical School. I got my M.D. in 1984 without ever getting a Bachelor's or Master's Degree. Such is life. Sometimes we just do what works. Would I do it again? -- Never!
Workplace
I own and operate my own Solo Family Practice, "Desert Wind Family Practice" in Richland, WA. I am assisted by my husband, Ted Nobles and 2 other employees. Mostly, I am happy with what I'm doing, but the money is not so good...
